Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-06
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using Narravie (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
The Service is a web application for creating and sharing timelines. Users can create timelines containing photos, videos, and text, and share them with other users.
3. Accounts
An account is required to use the Service. You are responsible for providing accurate information and maintaining the security of your account. Users under 16 years of age must obtain parental consent before using the Service.
4. User Content and Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in photos, videos, text, audio, and other content uploaded by users ("User Content") remain with the user or the rightful rights holder. By using the Service, you grant Narravie a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- Store and back up your User Content
- Display and deliver your content to other members in accordance with your sharing settings
- Create thumbnails and perform technical transformations such as resizing
- Schedule and publish content at a designated time via the Time Capsule feature
- Process your content through AI features including image analysis, voice transcription, caption generation, content moderation, and image enhancement (upscaling via fal.ai)
- Analyze your content for service operation purposes such as generating thumbnails, extracting metadata, and ensuring content safety
Narravie will not use your User Content to train or improve our own or any third party's AI models. When content is sent to external AI service providers (Google, fal.ai, etc.) for AI features, it is processed in accordance with those providers' terms of service. These providers guarantee under their enterprise agreements that customer data is not used for AI training. Intellectual property rights in content uploaded by timeline members remain with those members; such content will remain in the timeline after a member leaves or is removed. Upon account deletion, your User Content will be removed from storage (complete deletion from backups may take up to 30 days).
4-1. Timeline Sharing, Collaboration, and Transfer of Owner Authority
In the Service, an "Owner" means a user who has account-level authority to use management features designated by us for a timeline, including settings management, member management, visibility management, and related administrative functions. Being an Owner does not mean acquiring copyright, moral rights, other intellectual property rights, or legal ownership of any User Content contained in that timeline. Users may share timelines with other users and invite collaborators or viewers using the methods designated by us. Members of a shared timeline may access all or part of the events, descriptions, photos, videos, memos, and other content within that timeline within the scope of the permissions granted to them. A timeline Owner may transfer Owner authority for that timeline to another member in accordance with our designated conditions and procedures. The transfer of Owner authority becomes effective when the recipient user accepts the transfer and any other required procedures designated by us are completed. Once the transfer is completed, the recipient user obtains administrative authority for that timeline within the Service and may manage member access, change settings, and use other functions available to an Owner. Even in such cases, rights in each item of User Content within the timeline remain reserved to the user who posted that content or the rightful rights holder. You acknowledge and agree that if a timeline is shared or Owner authority is transferred, User Content you post to that timeline may be viewed, stored, and displayed by other members and any new Owner in accordance with the sharing settings and permissions applicable to that timeline. A transfer of Owner authority means a change in administrative authority within the Service and does not automatically create inheritance, estate succession, property succession, or any other legal succession under applicable law. Except where required by law, we are not obligated to automatically transfer account or timeline administrative authority to any third party in the event of a user's death, disappearance, loss of capacity, or similar circumstance. The Service provides a Backup Administrator system. A timeline Owner may designate editor members as Backup Administrators through timeline settings, subject to the designated user's explicit consent. When a Backup Administrator is designated, emergency elevation of Owner authority may be initiated under the following conditions: (i) a Backup Administrator manually requests elevation, (ii) the Owner's account is deleted, (iii) persistent payment failure, or (iv) long-term inactivity. In such cases, the Owner will be notified and given a grace period (set by the Owner, between 7 and 365 days) to cancel the process. If the Owner does not respond within the grace period, a Backup Administrator may assume Owner authority through our designated procedures. Emergency elevation is a transfer of administrative authority within the Service and does not constitute a transfer of intellectual property rights. Where a Backup Administrator has been designated, the statement that we are not obligated to transfer authority upon a user's death or similar circumstances applies only to situations where no Backup Administrator has been designated or the emergency elevation process has not been initiated.
4-2. Rescue Export of Member-Uploaded Media and Consent
You may, by explicit opt-in consent, agree that photos and videos ("Media Content") that you upload as a member of a shared timeline may be downloaded by the timeline Owner through procedures designated by us ("Rescue Export"), solely for rescue purposes when the Owner can no longer continue to use the Service. This consent is treated as a separate consent, independent from your participation in a shared timeline (acceptance of these Terms), and you may withdraw it at any time via the settings screen or other methods designated by us. Once consent is withdrawn, from the time of withdrawal onward, the Owner will no longer be able to make Rescue Exports of any Media Content you have uploaded, including any download links that may have been issued previously. Rescue Exports are permitted only in the following events: (i) downgrade of the Owner's paid plan or other circumstances making continued use of the Owner account difficult, (ii) account closure by the Owner, or (iii) emergency Owner-authority escalation procedures designated by us (including the Backup Administrator system set forth in Section 4-1). An Owner conducting a Rescue Export must respect the rights of the member who took or uploaded the Media Content and must not use such content for any purpose exceeding that member's reasonable expectations.
- This consent is obtained as explicit consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR and the spirit of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan
- Withdrawal of consent applies retroactively to the time of upload, and any Media Content previously uploaded is also excluded from the scope of Rescue Export
- Not granting this consent does not impair your ability to view shared timelines, post content, or otherwise use the features of the Service
4-3. Uploader Warranty for Content Featuring Third Parties or Minors
When you upload or post photos, videos, or other User Content that depicts a person other than yourself (including minors; "Subjects") to the Service ("Subject-Containing Content"), you represent and warrant that: (i) you have lawfully obtained any consents required from the Subject (or, if the Subject is a minor, from the Subject's legal guardian) to capture, record, or otherwise obtain the Subject-Containing Content; (ii) you have obtained any consents required from the Subject or legal guardian to upload the Subject-Containing Content to the Service, to display it to other members within a shared timeline, and to permit it to be handled within the scope of the licenses granted to us under these Terms; and (iii) the upload does not infringe on any rights of publicity, privacy, personality, or similar rights of any third party. If a Subject, the Subject's legal guardian, or any other party with a legitimate interest as recognized by us makes a request for deletion, suspension of use, exclusion from Rescue Export, or other exercise of rights with respect to Subject-Containing Content, we will, after verifying the legitimacy of the request, respond within a reasonable period (in principle, within 30 days from receipt). We do not currently provide automated subject tagging, identity recognition, age estimation, or other proactive subject management features in the Service, and primary responsibility for Subject-Containing Content rests with the uploading user. We may take measures including removal, unsharing, account suspension, or other necessary action under Section 10 (Prohibited Conduct) with respect to User Content that violates the uploader warranty in this Section.
We are considering offering features such as subject tagging, protected-person lists, and parental-consent flows for child accounts in the future. If such features are provided, the warranty in this Section will coexist with those features, and users are expected to use them to operate in a manner that respects the rights of Subjects.
5. AI Features
The Service uses AI features provided by Google Gemini and fal.ai for chat responses, image analysis, voice transcription and summarization, caption generation, time capsule AI summaries, image enhancement (upscaling), and content moderation. When using AI features, your data (text, images, audio, photo metadata, etc.) is sent to external AI service providers. Separate consent is required to use AI features.
6. Pricing and Payment
Paid plan pricing is displayed within the Service. Payments are processed through Stripe. Subscriptions auto-renew and must be cancelled before the next billing date. The Service uses an AI credit system. Each plan includes monthly credits that reset on the 1st of each month; unused monthly credits expire and do not carry over. Additional credits may be purchased separately and are valid for 365 days from the date of purchase. Credits are consumed in the following order: monthly credits first, then purchased credits (oldest first). If an AI processing request fails due to a system error, consumed credits will be automatically refunded. As a digital service, refunds for subscription payments and purchased credits are generally not available. If your timeline has had no activity (by you or any shared member) during a billing period, you may receive a 30% discount on your next billing cycle.
7. Storage
Each plan includes a designated storage quota. Storage usage is calculated based on the size of original files uploaded by the user (photos, videos, audio, etc.). Automatically generated thumbnails and resized images (such as small and medium preview images) created by the system for display optimization are not counted toward your storage quota. Voice memos and voice comments are included in the calculation. Refined images that are persistently stored through your explicit adoption of an AI enhancement (such as photo retouch or upscaling) are counted toward your storage quota as independent media files. The original image is retained even after AI enhancement until you explicitly delete it; therefore, a single adopted AI enhancement consumes storage for both the original and the refined image. You can review, revert, or delete the original image via the "View original" and "Revert to original" actions. You can check your current storage usage from the dashboard. If your usage exceeds the plan limit, upload restrictions and other limitations may apply in accordance with our storage overage policy. Specifically, if you downgrade your plan and your storage usage exceeds the new plan's limit, a 30-day grace period will begin. During this period, new uploads will be restricted. If the overage is not resolved within the grace period, additional feature restrictions (including AI features and sharing) may apply progressively.
8. Prohibited Activities
Uploading illegal content, harassing other users, misusing the Service, and circumventing security measures are prohibited. The Service may automatically analyze user input to AI features for content safety purposes. Violations are subject to graduated enforcement: initial violations result in a warning, repeated violations may lead to temporary feature restrictions, and severe or persistent violations may result in account suspension. Serious violations (e.g., threats, illegal content) may result in immediate action without prior warning.
9. Service Termination
Narravie reserves the right to modify or terminate the Service with at least 30 days' prior notice. In the event of service termination, users will be given a reasonable period to export their data using the personal data export feature. Users may terminate their use by deleting their account, subject to the following conditions: (a) active subscriptions must be cancelled before account deletion, and (b) all timelines owned by the user must be either transferred to another member or deleted prior to account deletion.
10. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is". Narravie makes no warranties regarding service interruptions, data loss, or the accuracy of AI outputs.
11. EU/EEA Residents
If you are located in the EU/EEA, the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) apply to our processing of your personal data. The legal bases for processing are described in our Privacy Policy. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you believe our processing of your personal data infringes applicable law, you may contact us through the in-app feedback feature.
12. Changes to Terms
These Terms may be updated as needed. Significant changes will be notified within the Service, and continued use requires re-acceptance.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising from the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court.
14. Contact
For questions about these Terms, please use the feedback feature within the Service.
